PSP 3000 Battery Life Even Shorter?

Files under PSP News | Posted by Mase

In a recent interview with Gamespot, John Koller of Sony gave indication that the battery life on the new PSP would be shorter than the current model. Shortly thereafter, Koller made a follow up statement clarifying the situation.

The Sony director says that the battery life on the PSP 3000 will be equivalent to that of the PSP 2000, which is currently an estimated 4 to 6 hours of game play and approximately 4 to 5 hours for UMD video playback. Much of the speculation was behind the PSP’s new screen which is said to consume more power from the device. Koller revealed that Sony’s engineers in Japan were able to reduce the system’s overall power consumption, ensuring gamers they wouldn’t have to worry about missing out on game time while enjoying the enhanced visuals.

This is certainly a relief that makes the new PSP sound even more appealing. Vibrant graphics and the same intense game play - the PSP 3000 definitely sounds like a winner.
