
As you know, we mentioned in an earlier post that PSP firmware 5.0 would be ready for download sometime soon. What we didnt know was that it would be available right now!!!
You see, if you go the Playstation store and download it to your pc, or even update it through your Network settings of your psp, you could be enjoying new stuff.
If you aren’t sure whether to download psp firmware 5.0, then I just want to let you in on some of the new functions.
As you may know, included in the update is;
- PlayStation®Network
- PlayStation®Store
- (PlayStation®Store) is now available on the PSP® system.
- If you have access to a wireless network, you will be able to download things like games, video coontent which can be used on the psp.
- Sony have improved the feature for outputting video from PlayStation® format software to a TV.
- You can now output video from PlayStation® format software to a TV in full-screen size.
- You can now use video output cables that do not support video in progressive mode to output video from PlayStation® format software to a TV.
Apart from this, there are also some new and revised features in psp firmware 5.0. These include;
- [Title Display] has been added as an option under (Video Settings).
- [USB Auto Connect] has been added as an option under (System Settings).
- [Backlight Auto-Adjust] has been added as an option under (Power Save Settings).
- Music
- No more falling asleep with your psp still on. You see, a (Sleep Timer) has been added as an option on the control pane
One of the cool new things has been done to the videos function. You see, the file types which the PSP can play increases (MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) Video Main Profile (AVC CABAC) in 640 x 480 pixels
Apart from that, the background of the XMB™ screen has been redesigned to look awesome! The other thing is that if you want, you can now use a full-size on-screen keyboard. I guess that’s for real hardcore psp users or something.
Anyway, a few new things with psp firmware 5.0. Overall, it gets our stamp of approval.
