Now this VERY cool. You may have heard of this really awesome psp community member of ours AKA modder known as F00 f00. You see, just this week, he’s done this incredible mod. Probably one of the best. And there’s a good reason why.
As you probably know, most people outside of our community think us psp gamers are just a bunch of time wasters or something. No gooders I was once called by my neighbor. (I guess I should have given him the Greg Focker “Karatee Chop” to the mouth! But lucky for him, my little sis and her “Cabbage Patch” playing friends held me back.)
Anyway, this psp mod created by F00 f00 is for a girl who has a limited use in one hand. You see, the psp controller is a litle difficult for her to use. So a friend asked F00 f00 for some help. So he does some kind of “voodoo” on the psp and adds a SNES controller.
… Awesome I know!
Anyway, if you’re thinking of doing the same thing to your psp, then here’s what he says;
This mod was achieved by adding a small socket to the back of the psp ( the socket was sent to me by a friend some time ago so I dont have a part number. I believe it was intended for a cell phone). I taped all of the relevant points on the psp mother board (some of which where horribly close together and tiny. Actually not some ALL of them where), and then ran these to the socket.
I used a file and dremal to cut a whole in the back of the psp and the socket fitted in with a satisfying *click*. I then put together a custom cable and plug that would fit the newly attached socket. This was then wired to the snes controllers pcb (attached directly to the traces of each button. And thats about it.
Anyway, watch this video of it in action.

As you probably know, Sony have bee working on the PSP media for the psp. Anyway, if you want this psp download, then you can find it here.
Did I mention it’s free. (Poor dudes who paid for the earlier version! They should refund their money or something)
Anyway, what the Media Manager does is help you organize and sync your music, photos and other digital content to your PSP. I guess it’s trying to be Itunes or something. Now, you might also know that the new function to this is that it grants you access to the Playstation store through your PC.
Although, the dude at the Playstation blog does a better job of explaining it.
Have a look here. (Although don’t look at that “wig” too closely. It may damage your eyes!)
I guess the only thing they should do now is make a download version available for our Mac users. I’m wondering when they will do that.
Anyway, for more psp downloads and stuff, I know you’ll want to bookmark our site.
Ok. So you probably think this is some new shaky breaky game or something. And if you have a PSP 3000, you may think this is just normal. Well, it’s not really.
You see, there have been a number of psp gamers who are experiencing this. And I think the problem has got back to Sony.
So what are they doing about it? Well, as you know, Sony are a huge company with some really good people there. However, nothing has been said about what is going on. Could they be taking it off the market to fix this as some other sites are mentioning? Maybe. But if you have a PSP 3000 which has this issue, then you probably know now that it’s not what it should look like.
Therefore, if you have this issue, you may want to take it back to the place you purchased it from and get yourself a new one. You see, the psp is the best gaming system in the world. So we should expect the very best.
Check this video to see if you have a scanline issue.
Anyway, if you need more information on the psp 3000, and psp downloads and stuff, you’ll find it right here.
BREAKING NEWS - Dark Alex has just released Custom Fw 5.00 M33-3 for the PSP. Now if you want to download it for your psp, I’d probably do it right about now. You see, Dark Alex is the man. Again. And again. And again.
Anyway, this is upgraded from 3.90 M33-3 without any kind of hickup.
Seriously. I don’t know if we should name our pets after him, or send him cash or something. All I do know is that Dark Alex ROCKS! He absolutely rocks the PSP.
Anyway, here’s what he says about PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-3 on his site;
A quick fix for the big bug introduced in M33-2…
Changes:
- A bug was introduced in 5.00 M33-2 that made some games and homebrew not to work.
- PSN version check is now automatically bypassed without need of touching any setting.
Nearly seven years after Nintendo introduced the Advance link cable to connect its GameCube and Game Boy systems, Sony followed up with a solution of its own. The PSP Plus is designed to connect specific PSP games to the Playstation 3. You may know this, but the first psp games to roll out this will be the awesome Resistance franchise. (This game is going to seriously rock!)
As you may know, the psp games is scheduled to launch in the spring of next year. Resistance: Retribution will be the first game PS3 players get to enjoy. Anyway, if you are wondering if it is going to be difficult to do this, then let me explain the process. When the title releases, gamers that own Resistance: Retribution and Resistance 2 will be able to transfer the action via a USB cable.
That’s right folks. USB cable! How simple is that!
Anyway, once it’s ported to the PS3, exclusive content and game modes will be unlocked for a different experience. The campaign mode will allow you to play with a wireless Dualshock controller and complete the missions on your very own TV. According to Sony, the connection remains active until turning off your PSP.
I’m hoping this is going to be awesome for us.

If you been wondering if US psp gamers like you and me were going to get PSP firmware 5.0 like Japan are getting, then I’ve got some good news. You see, Playstation have just announced that the latest firmware will be available to US psp gamers some time soon. (Rumors has it that it will be ready for download in the coming days.)
Anyway, what this means for you is that you will be able to access the Playstation store right from your psp. However, it is not going to like the Japanese version where you get to download psp games. Well, not at the moment anyway.
You see, with the US version, there will be an option to enter your PSN Card numbers and voucher codes. The categories in the store are still up in the air, but there will be categories like UMD Legacy games, themes, video, and even music. Now, if they can only add downloadable psp games, then that is awesome.
Anyway, once we hear more about psp firmware 5.0, we’ll make sure you are the first to know about.

If you look really closely at this pic, you will probably see a couple of things which will interest you. You see, the PlayStation Store may hit the psp in the U.S. sooner than we expect. As you can see from the from the Limited Edition 4GB memory stick bundle box art pic from Amazon, the PlayStation Store interface is prominently displayed on the screen of the PSP.
Now, as you may know, Japanese PSP owners should be able to get access to it when the new psp is released sometime in the next few weeks. And you probably know that it will ship with version 4.20 or something. (I don’t think there will be anything too major about this version. Apart from the “USB Auto Connect” and “Flicker Reduction” functions.)
But apart from that, it’s really the first time anyone has mentioned that this feature will come out in North America. The only thing we can do now though, is to sit tight and wait for the Tokyo Game Show. You see, I get a feeling that we will hear more about what to expect from the new psp. (Although my spies tell me that the new psp is much brighter than the earlier models.)

Though it seems like we’ve been waiting forever, GPS technology should be available to American PSP owners by some time next year.
According to Sony PSP rep John Koller, support for navigation and maps aren’t the only features we should expect. Koller reported to MTV Multiplayer that the new peripheral improvements will not only modify the dynamics of GPS technology, but the way games are designed for the PSP as well.
Sony plans to introduce the GPS idea to third-party developers and is currently discussing development plans with its global first-party companies. SCEA is also looking into the development of new games and how they can be enhanced with GPS technology.
Anyway, this is something you’ll probably want for your psp.

Is the pic above cruel or what! You see, you probably know it’s from the psp game, Phantasy Star Portable. And you may also know they will release it this week. Pretty cool yeah.
The only problem is they are opening it up only for Asia. (Insert here : me crying!)
Anyway, this is not the only psp game being available this week. You see, there are a few of them. But they are not for us. Which sucks.
.. BIGTIME.
Let me explain. It’s like Asia gets the best psp games. And they always get them first. Now I can understand if you feel like we are second rate or something. Because that’s exactly how I feel. Especially when no new releases for North America this week! You see, in the EU, they are getting International Athletics and SBK 08 Superbike World Champion. Not bad psp games too. If you haven’t played them, you can always try this site.)
As for Asia. Well, here’s what they get to play with this week.
Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Collection (PC Engine Best Collection)
Panic Palette Portable
Phantasy Star Portable
Tengai Makyou Collection (PC Engine Best Collection)
Tengai Makyou: Daishi no Mokushiroku (Hudson the Best)
Does that make you sick or what! You probably know that we almost had Tengai Makyou (Far East of Eden, a RPG) in the US. But Hudon cancelled them for some reason.
Anyway, I guess it’s another week of twiddling my thumbs or something.

As you might know, Sony has been teasing us a little bit about when it would release PSP firmware 4.0 to us. Anyway, the Operations Director, or what I like to call, OD, Eric Lempel, has something cool to share with us. Well, have a look at this;
“…v4.00, will be released soon, adding Google
Internet search directly to the XMB (XrossMediaBar) interface. This new upgrade replicates the Google Internet search experience, delivering the same search results that you’d get at www.google.com. And with a search history recall of 20 items, Web searches couldn’t be easier.
After you download and install the firmware on your PSP click on the XMB’s Network icon and then the new Internet Search icon. Enter your keywords and then let Google’s algorithms do the work. You’ll need to be connected to the internet via a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. Googling something on the go has never been more convenient on your
PSP.Another new feature delivered through the 4.00 update is the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos stored on your Memory stick Pro Duo, so you can speed through or slow down what you’re watching. To do this simply press the up or down directional buttons while playing a video.
Now you may be wondering if that is it. And like us, we thought they’d be doing more. Anyway, hopefully they are hiding something there for when they release it.
… That would be cool.
