PSP Portal For You… Again!!!

PSP WXP

If you were on our site last week, you’d remember I put a download for the Vista PSP portal. The response was huge.

I can’t believe how many people loved it!

But there was a very small problem.

You see, there were so many members of our community go their, we literally blew up the link! (Well done guys! Am I supposed to say that?)

Anyway, I’ve received lots of emails from people wanting to know if there were others like it. So I thought I’d give you a link to one which I had on my PSP a few months back.

It’s called PspWxp. And it stands for PlayStation Portable Windows XP (based off of winpsportal).

Now this portal allows you to use Windows XP on your Playstation Portable. (Well, really it is just a set of Webpages that look similar to Windows XP, but they are offline.)

It has some useful features lots of games and applications. You do not need to access the Internet for most of pspWxp, only to access the links and use the Web browser.

As it is only 1.5 Megabytes in size, it will fit on any memory card. pspWxp will not harm your PSP. Version 1.02 does not show previous app/game on starting a new app/game, fixed music menu button, five card stud poker slightly changed and bug fixes.

Anyway, you can get the download here.

For more free portal downloads and free psp games, make sure you bookmark our site.

PSP Slim Metal Chassis Omitted to Reduce Weight [Part 1]

Files under PSP News, PSP SLIM | 2 Comments

The most noticeable feature of the new PSP Slim aka PSP-2000, which was developed by Sony, is its lightness. Its mass is 189 g, 91 g lighter than the old PSP (PSP-1000).

What is the factor that reduced weight of the PSP by 33%? Well, the Nikkei Electronics Disassembly Squad started on taking apart the PSP-2000 with the help of engineers. We prepared a PSP-2000 and PSP-1000 to uncover the secret of the lightness by disassembling them concurrently.

To begin with, we started to take apart the PSP-1000.

Taking out a secondary battery, removing a take-down preventive seal from the bottom of the chassis, and taking out screws one by one

“Hmm … it’s hard to take them out.” The experienced engineers, who have disassembled many portable devices, often got stuck. With some difficulty, they took out the front chassis, flexible substrate used as an antenna, keypad, etc. It took us a few minutes to pull out the liquid crystal module because it was fixed by a solid metal chassis.

Removing the chassis from the front side, and pulling out and turning over the liquid crystal module

At this point, we stopped taking apart the PSP-1000 and started to disassemble the PSP-2000.

Same as before, taking out a secondary battery, removing a take-down preventive seal and taking out screws

“This one is easier to take apart.” The engineers’ hands were smoothly moving. Even though they disassembled the PSP-1000 first, the PSP-2000 seemed to be easy to dismantle. “The PSP-2000 probably is easy to put together, and its production efficiency may be higher than that of the old PSP.” The liquid crystal module of the PSP-2000 was not fixed by a metal plate or anything and easy to pull out.

The liquid crystal module was turned over, and part of the main circuit board appeared.

“It looks like that many electromechanical parts have been changed,” one of the engineers said.

In the PSP-1000, a solid metal chassis is placed under the liquid crystal module. The chassis prevents the module from being deformed or damaged when users twist the chassis and increases the strength of the entire body.

However, the weight of this metal chassis is 23 g, 8% of the mass of the PSP-1000. The PSP-2000 does not contain this metal chassis.

The strength of the PSP-1000 is increased by the metal chassis.

The metal chassis does not exist in the PSP-2000.

The PSP Slim has less strength in the front side, too, than the PSP-1000. In the PSP-1000, conjunction molding forms a transparent resin layer on the surface. On the other hand, the chassis of the PSP-2000 is formed by monochromatic molding. Because the PSP-2000 has only one layer, not two, its thickness and strength are less than those of the PSP-1000.

A transparent resin layer is formed on the surface of the PSP-1000, protecting the LCD.

Monochromatic molding is used for the PSP-2000. To protect the LCD, a transparent resin plate is separately embedded.

So, unless the PSP-2000 contains another large metal chassis, we can say that its strength is kept only by the resin chassis in the reverse side. To test this assumption, the Disassembly Squad continued to take apart the PSPs.

… More to come.

PSP Games Loco Roco

Image The Japanese are so cute.

And they also come up with some of the cutest stuff.

… Like Loco Roco for instance.

You see, in Loco Roco, LocoRoco and their friends, the Mui Mui, helped grow vegetation and look after nature, making the planet a pleasant place to be, playing and singing the days away. When the Moja Troop comes to the planet to take it over, the LocoRoco do not know how to fight against the invaders from outer space.

In the game, you got to tilt the environment in using the left or right shoulder buttons in order to maneuver a variety of coloured jelly-like characters through each level via gravity.

Sounds easy?

Well, it’s not!

Anyway, my spies have found the game someone has put up on Rapid share.

If you are love cute games, then you’re gonna love this.

PSP Firmware Update PicThe latest official Media Create Japanese hardware sales are in for the week ending September 16 and they reveal that the PSP beat everybody, including the DS with over 15,000 units to spare. The PSP came tops with 95,487 units sold (thanks due to Crisis Core) while the DS sold 79,974 units. Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops 2 on the way

PSP PictScarce details have surfaced that Kojima Productions have commenced work on new psp games. One of them is called Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 2 which is obviously a follow up to the previous ops. Details on how the game will progress are very thin at the moment.

Quote:

“Metal Gear Solid news and media have been rather abundant at TGS this year, but there’s even more announcements to be made. It appears to be the case that Kojima Productions has started work on a new PSP game: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 2. We assume that this title will follow the story of the previous Portable Ops game, though as of right now, details are few and far between. More information can be found on Ashley Wood’s blog, the graphic artist who has worked with Kojima Productions for the distinctive, brush-stroke drawings of the Metal Gear Solid comic book and Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel as well as the cut-scenes of MGS:Portable Ops.”

PSP Slim Cable Warning

If you are planning on using your PSP Slim to play psp games on the tv, then read this first. You see, not sure if everyone is aware of this but there is two official cables available for the PSP. One of them can play games, video, pics, music and internet on your TV and the other one cannot display games but can display all other content.PSP AV

The one that can display everything is called a “Component AV Cable” and consists of 5 connecters ……
2 are for Audio and the other 3 are the Y , PB/CB , PR/CR for video

The other Cable is a Composite Cable and its called a “AV Cable” which consists of the 3 connectors
2 for Audio and one for Video and stated in the small print on the back of the box it says ” This product cannot be used to display images from games on a tv screen ”

These Cables was purchased in canada. And I’m not sure if these cables differ across the world

So be sure to read the fine print before buying a cable for your PSP

*** EDIT *** just found this while searching google *******

Out now.

1) regular composite cable, also known as an RCA cable. Has three color coded ends, red, yellow and white.
This cable will not show games on a tv period. However you will be able to browse the web, play umd movies, and pictures and/or movies from your mem stick.

2) Component cable. Has five color coded ends. Blue, Green, Red plus two audio, a white and another red. This cable is capable of carrying the signal that the PSP requires to display a game on the tv. The signal is 480p, where p stands for progressive scan. You can also send a 480i signal over the same cable, where i stands for interlace, however the PSP will not allow you to output a game display when set to 480i.
Now the tricky part. Some older tvs, and even some of the new LCD tvs may have one or more inputs for component cables. However, not all component ins will support a 480p signal, some will only display a 480i signal. Therefore, be sure to check that the component input on the tv you want to use will display a 480p signal. Sometimes manufacturers will put HD in above the inputs that will support 480p or higher, which can help figure out which ones to use. If you have a next gen game console , or a good dvd player hooked up to those inputs, chances are it will display a 480p signal. An inexpensive EDTV, or enhanced definition tv supports 480p.

Coming soon.

some online sites also list two other cable options as coming soon. They are:

3) s-video cable. Normally these carry an interlaced signal, so it seems unlikely you will be able to display a game using it.

4) A D terminal cable. Although it carries the necessary signal for game display, it is usually found only on Japanese electronics. Although it looks like a VGA computer cable, it is not compatible with a vga in on a tv or monitor.

So if you don’t have a component in on your tv that support 480p, or you wish to use a computer monitor, are you out of luck?

well no, but the solutions get a little more costly at this point. The easiest solution may be to purchase a vga converter, such as VDigi Electronics’ VD-Z3 and Neoya’s X2VGA. These boxes will take a component in signal, and convert it to a vga signal. There are probably other options available that you can find, but make sure you search for a component out to vga solution, not the other way around. There are many cable that will take a vga out to a component in, but thats the opposite of what you need to play your psp games on the tv.

So,If you dun have a good TV..you wont be able to display PSP GAME on ur TV..
And if your TV support Component Cable..you’ll need a zoom mode to display full screen game..

So think twice before you buy SLIM.

M33 Speaks — Sony & Custom Firmware Development

PSP Firmware Update PicThose anxiously awaiting the release of M33’s latest custom firmware will need to wait a bit longer. It looks the OE source code leak wasn’t only beneficial to CFW developers; it gave Sony a couple clever ideas too. Sony’s latest firmware includes several interesting changes which hinder Team M33’s current developments.

*shakes fist at the sky* Damn you, Sony! ANyway, here’s what M33 says about it;

Hello, world.

As you have seen, some things have changed between Sony and the developing of custom firmwares.

Due to the leak (that we’ve always gone against this crime) of the OE sources from a private svn, everyone can take a peek into the patches done from the Open Edition to the original firmwares to allow the development into this scene that was growing day after day. And, when we say anyone, we include Sony.

This intrusion into one of the basis of the actual PSP Scene, has just made harm to the entire world of the PSP Scene. Therefore, Sony saw this and made some interesting changes in some modules (mainly loadcore), plus the change of some nids that are used to the development of M33 Custom Firmware.

So, if you can’t wait for the new release, you’ll have to wait; and this is cause this leak and this changes made upon the material we work and we try to release asap to the *entire* psp community. Looks like, as always, there is someone that wants to be important in this world when no-one asks him, and his result is this delay on the development of the new versions.

This “benefit” that much lammers talked about in foreign forums, talking about OE leak, will just made a result in the near future: that serious developers (including us) will think twice before releasing anything else.

And also, speaking about the new “custom firmwares” that have been released, such as AoP, and others addons that use M33Cf, will be deeply studied and reversered to see if *anything* of the core, reboot, or whatever from our work has been ilegally used. If this is afirmative, we’ll have to act against this.

This changes won’t probably last too long and won’t be an important problem, but it’s just, as we have just said, another resultant of trying to be someone on this world by stealing and leaking instead of studying.

Please have patient and stay tuned for the next Custom Firmware for PSP and PSP Slim and Lite :)

M33 Team.
